Shirley Nadine Slavens (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Shirley Nadine Christian-Slavens, age 82, of Fair Play, Missouri passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born December 14, 1927 in Eudora, Missouri to Berna Crain and Flora Ethel (Slatton) Crain.
Shirley was a homemaker and a member of the Fair Play Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Loy Vernon Christian on July 7, 1979, her second husband, John D. Slavens on January 26, 2004, her son, Greg LaVern Christian, two daughters, Donna Lynn Christian, Sally Gayle Christian, four sisters, Sylvia, Berneice, Thelma, Nelly and five brothers, Alan, Billy, Ira, Leonard and Infant Baby Boy Crian.
She is survived by her three sons, Victor Alan Christian of Fair Play, Missouri, James Dennis Christian of Fair Play, Missouri, Bradley Scott Christian of Osceola, Missouri, three daughters, Connie Joan Christian-Barber of Bolivar, Missouri, Janie Beth Christian of Brookline Station, Missouri, Bonnie Irene Christian-Kelly of Springfield, Missouri, one sister, Juanita Zachary of Forbes Town, California, one granddaughter, Cassandra Marie Hicks, two great grandchildren, Jillayne Marie Stratton, and Torin Alan Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Brother Bill Stafford officiating. Musical selections will be “Take My Hand Precious Lord”, “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, and “Precious Memories” by Malinda Batten with Greg Ankrom playing the piano. Burial will follow at the Eudora Cemetery in Eudora, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00pm on Monday evening at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Pallbearers will be Jackie Bays, Gary Cushman, Billie Stafford, Hank Leonard, Scott Stafford, Dwayne Stafford, Wayne Swindler and Tony Cushman.
