Shirley Ann (Brake) Owens (Seymour)'s Obituary
Shirley Ann (Brake) Owens, daughter of Alva C. and Lily Marie (Essary) Brake, was called home to her Heavenly Reward on Monday, April 14, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, at the age of seventy one years, two months and two days. One of nine children, she was born at home in Springfield, Missouri, on February 12, 1943. She enjoyed a full life here in Webster County.
Shirley married Donald Wayne Owens on July 2, 1960, and to this union two children were born. Donald preceded her in death on April 16, 1994.
She leaves behind her daughter, Kimberly Cornelison and husband Tim; son, Paul W. Owens; granddaughter, Crystal Owens; grandson, Kyle Cornelison; and great-granddaughter Aliya Motley, all of Fordland; two brothers, Chester Brake of Springfield, Missouri, and John Brake of California; one sister, Beverly Hamilton and husband Albert, of California; and several cousins and extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by brothers, Hayes Brake, Denzil Brake and Kelley Brake; and sisters, Dessie Gardner and Joe Ann Guinn.
Shirley enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards. She loved nature and the outdoors and camping. Shirley was a Christian woman who regularly read her bible, and volunteering at the Community Christian 25 cent Store in Fordland was very near and dear to her as well.
Shirley was a cherished wife, loving mother and grandmother and a dear sister. We take this time to honor her life and accomplishments. We will treasure the memories she created for each of us. Shirley will be sadly missed by family and friends and all who knew her.
