Shirley was born and raised in Thresa, Wisconsin and graduated high school in 1957. She was baptized and saved at an early age. In 1955 Art moved to Wisconsin to look for work after he graduated. While he was up in Wisconsin, he met Shirley at her cousin’s wedding and they fell in love. Shirley and Arthur soon married on March 14, 1959 and have been together for the last 59 years. Shirley worked as a telephone operator and a waitress while she and Art were up in Wisconsin. After Art left the service, they moved to Hartville and Shirley worked at the heel factory for a while before starting as a sewing operator at the H.D. Lee factory. She worked at H.D. Lee for over twenty years before retiring in 1999.
Shirley was a member of the Legion Auxiliary for thirty-six years. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee with friends and family, having fish fries, eating at the fish fries, and watching those Green Bay Packers. Most importantly, Shirley loved and adored her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend. We celebrate her wonderful life and will always cherish the many happy memories she helped create.
