Smokey Sherrer's Obituary
Smokey Lewis Sherrer, son of Lewis Adrian and Doris Mae Nutter Sherrer, was born June 29, 1960, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, January 19, 2007, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of forty-six years, six months, and twenty days. His father, and his maternal and paternal grandparents preceded him in death. Smokey is survived by a special friend, Virginia Massey, of Lebanon, Missouri; his mother, Doris Sherrer, of Stoutland, Missouri; two brothers, James Sherrer, and his wife, Maxine, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Daniel Sherrer, and his wife, Krissie, of Waynesville, Missouri; three sisters, Christina Sherrer, of Stoutland, Missouri, Diana Atwell, and her husband, Dan, of Osage Beach, Missouri, and Sue Ellen Stradt, and her husband, Brad, of Stoutland, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and attended Stoutland Schools. He then made his home in the Lebanon community for most of his adult years. He worked as a brick mason and welder and also drove a truck for Marathon Electric, Lowe Boats, and Marine Electric. Smokey followed the Pentecostal faith throughout his life. He loved music and liked playing the guitar as well as a variety of other instruments. He particularly enjoyed bluegrass, country, and rock and roll music. Smokey was a special friend, a loving son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Harrill (Simlin) Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
