Staff Thomas L Hardy's Obituary
Thomas L. Hardy, son of Thomas and Rita Louise Perry Hardy, was born October 18, 1960, in Glendale, California. He departed this life Sunday, June 19, 2011, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty years, eight months, and one day. On October 4, 2003, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Mills, and they shared the last seven years. He was preceded in death by his mother; and a sister, Carol Louise Hardy. Tom is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the home; his father, Thomas Hardy, of the State of California; two step-daughters, Ashley Taylor and Carley Mills, both of Hartville, Missouri; a step-son, Joshua Taylor, of Fort Riley, Kansas; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in California. He entered the military at the age of twenty-three, and served his country faithfully in the United States Army for over twenty years. Among the many places he was stationed while in the Army, his favorite assignments were Bosnia and Macedonia. During his time in the Army, he earned his Bachelor?s Degree, and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant before retiring on January 31, 2003. He then began a second career with the Department of Defense, where he was an instructor in demolitions. He also had worked at the Laclede County Sheriff?s Department for several years. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Tom and Carolyn made their home in the Hartville, Missouri area, before moving to Lebanon. Tom had attended Mount Zion Baptist Church, near Hartville, Missouri. In his spare time he enjoyed riding motorcycles, and raising birds. He had a fondness for animals and was raising several varieties of parrots. Tom was a loving husband, son, and step-father, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.
