Stanley Dowden's Obituary
Stanley Eugene Dowden, son of Clyde Joseph and Ida Catherine Royster Dowden, was born January 30, 1939, near Competition, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, March 11, 2010, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, one month, and eleven days. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dale and Eulan Dowden; and two sisters, Merle McElfresh, and Georgia Lee Tuck. Stanley is survived by three brothers, Vernon Dowden, and his wife, Mary, of Bolivar, Missouri, Clyde Junior Dowden, and his wife, Linda, of Falcon, Missouri, and Joe Dowden, and his wife, Bonnie, of Lebanon, Missouri; five sisters, Maxine Todd, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Carlene McDaniel, of Ozark, Missouri, Rosalie Webb, and her husband, Jay, Kay Medley, and her husband, Jerry, and Valice Lowery, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Competition community, and attended the Victory and Happy Hill Schools. For many years, he made his home with his mother, and then later moved to Christian Health Care South, where everyone loved him. Stanley had attended Taylor Avenue Full Gospel Church in Lebanon. He was a very happy person and was well liked by everyone. His family was very important to him and he knew everyone’s name and birthday. In his early years he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and liked going to St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. He greatly enjoyed collecting baseball caps. He had a delightful sense of humor and was quite the practical joker. Stanley was a loving brother and uncle, and was a kind and caring friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday March 15, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon, Missouri. Burial will be in the Mt. Carey Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until time of service under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
