Steve Thomas Fuhrer (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Steve Thomas Fuhrer, son of the late Dale & Norma (Thompson) Fuhrer, was born on July 12, 1953, and departed this life on October 13, 2024, at home with his loving wife. At the time of his passing, Steve was 71 years of age.
Steve was preceded in passing by his parents; sister, Nancy Goodman; and mother-in-law, Betty Field.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Fuhrer; two children, Christy (Todd) Johnson and Kelli (Kevin) Pologruto; two grandchildren, Avery (10) and Ainsley (7) Johnson; two sisters, Carylyn (Jerry) Pippenger and Marylyn (Roy Dean) Downing; father-in-law, Robert Field; two sisters-in-law, Jean (Roger) Morgenstern and Janice (Bill) Dickerson; and eight nieces and nephews. In his passing, Steve leaves behind many friends who will truly miss him.
Steve was raised in Mt. Pulaski, IL, where he would later graduate from high school in the class of 1971. On August 2, 1991, Steve was united in marriage to Susan Field; together they would share 33 years of marriage. He truly adored his wife and best friend, Susie. They were able to live their lifelong dream of living on the lake and spending mornings drinking their coffee and just taking in the natural beauty of God’s creation.
Steve enjoyed 30 years of making memories at the lake with his wife, daughters, son-in-laws, and granddaughters. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and friends, whether that was his immediate family or his Habitat or Church family.
Steve accomplished 37 years of recovery. He also devoted his life by caring for others and helping them achieve and maintain their sobriety. He was a member of Habitat for Humanity, Shriner’s club, Logan County/Lincoln Masonic Lodge and served as city Alderman for Lincoln, IL for 6years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending time with his family. Steve was a highly respected and skilled carpenter, builder, and wood worker. Steve never knew a stranger.
Steve made a profession of faith and was an avid member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln, Illinois and currently a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Lebanon, Missouri. Steve was a wonderful and true servant of God.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Lebanon, MO. A reception will follow the service in the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Lake of the Ozarks Habitat for Humanity or the Trinity Episcopal Church in Lebanon, MO.
