Steven Barnett (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Steven Kenneth Barnett passed away Thursday Aug 14 2025 in Columbia MO at the Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, from a stroke after a long battle of heart disease. Steve was born in Colby KS on April 27 1948, to Kenneth and Beth Barnett. He graduated Atchison County Community High School in 1966. He served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War 1967 to 1971, stationed in Norfolk, VA. He lived in Effingham and Atchison, KS. Shrewsbury, MA; Marshfield, MO; Topeka, KS; Springfield, MO; Bolivar and Conway/Radar, MO. He met Julie Pomeroy in 1988 in Strafford MO, and they were together 36 years, their wedding anniversary on Sept. 18. He was a CDL truck driver for 20 plus years. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Missouri Synod. He enjoyed working on vehicles, collecting tractor models, reading historical books, and collecting stereo systems, speakers, vinyl records and cassettes of many music genres. He will be remembered for his love of country and generosity to the Native American children, helping donate to build schools and afford provisions. He is preceded in death by parents and brother, Dan. Steve Barnett is survived by his wife, Julie, sons Waylon and Anthony J., AJ’s wife Morric, sisters Beck and Kris, and nephews and nieces: Dana Kay, Tim, and Kevin; Justin, Christopher, and Lyndsey; Tony, Travis, and Tabitha; Chris, Darren, and Shelly; Ronnie, Freeman, and Becky.
