Steven Cress' Obituary
Steven Clinton Cress, son of Jasper C. and Vera A. Woods Cress, was born August 24, 1946, in Osceola, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, December 22, 2011, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-five years, three months, and twenty-eight days. On May 12, 2001, he was united in marriage to Glenna Jean Carvel, and they had shared many years together. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robbie Stover; and a brother, Larry Cress. Steven is survived by his wife, Glenna, of the home; a son, Joe Cress, of Springfield, Missouri; three daughters, Erinn Sprouse, of the State of Iowa, Louise Stover, and Stephanie Cress, both of Conway, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kelsi, Emma, Brenden, and Eva; a brother, Mike Cress, of Conway, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Missouri, and then moved with his family to Iowa, where he graduated from Altoona High School. He continued to make his home in Iowa for several years, before moving to Conway, Missouri. After he and Glenna were married, they made their home in Conway. Steven had worked for Tracker Marine for a few years, and then was employed as an assembly worker and forklift operator at Detroit Tool Company for several years. In his spare time he enjoyed doing wood carvings, reading, playing games on the computer, and keeping in touch with his friends on Facebook. He greatly enjoyed Christmas and having the family home for the holidays. His family was always very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Steven was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them throughout the years.
