Steven D. Cummins (Seymour)'s Obituary
Steven D. Cummins, beloved son of Cindy Cummins and the late Dale D. Cummins, peacefully departed this earthly life surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Steven fought a courageous, year-long battle with cancer and was twenty-three years, nine months and ten days young at the time of his passing.
One of two children, he was born Steven Dwayne Cummins on October 25, 1991, in Springfield, Missouri, to Dale Dean and Cindy Lou (Cornelison) Cummins. He was raised in Seymour and was a graduate of the Seymour High School Class of 2010. Steven was very active in high school where he played in band all four years, and was a member of BETA, TRI-M, and DECA.
After graduating, Steven moved to Springfield to work and continue his education at Ozark Technical College. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his guitar, and gaming, especially Xbox Live. He loved his kitty cats and had a big heart for cats in general. Steven was also a Lego enthusiast, and assembled thousands of pieces of the Legos Star Wars series, among others, over the years.
Steven will be fondly remembered for his contagious smile and upbeat personality. He was a passionate and caring soul who loved music and family. He was always positive and kept friends and family laughing any time he was around.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Dale D. Cummins, on August 10, 2000; maternal grandmother, Judy Mullis; paternal grandfather, Wesley Cummins; and uncle, Billy Joe Cornelison.
Steven leaves behind his loving and devoted mother, Cindy Cummins and Mike Dobson, of Seymour; his brother, Michael Cummins and wife, Heather, of Marshfield, Missouri; maternal grandfather, Bill Cornelison of Marshfield; maternal grandfather, Ken Mullis of Marshfield; paternal grandmother, Velma Cummins of Seymour; maternal great-grandmother, Julie Cornelison of Marshfield (formerly of Diggins, Missouri); aunt, Janet and Bill Coonce, and aunt, Sandy and Steve Bahnmiller, all of Seymour; nephew, Dale Eugene Cummins; and a host of extended family, relatives and treasured friends.
Steven will be so deeply missed by all those blessed enough to know and love him during his time with us. Though brief, he lived his life to its fullest and made many memories for family and friends that will be carried in their hearts forever.
Even in death Steven’s generous heart lives on because he made the brave decision to be an organ donor and give the gift of sight to another soul here on earth.
A memorial in Steven’s honor has been established to the Seymour High School Music Boosters Club and may be left at the funeral home.
