Steven J. Smith (Seymour)'s Obituary
Steven James “Steve” Smith, age 67 passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri after a lingering illness. Steve was born Friday, July 21, 1950 in Springfield, the son of Delores Jean Smith.
Steve was raised in the Seymour community, graduating from Seymour High School with the class of 1969. He enjoyed music and basketball in his spare time. He worked for the Seymour School District for 27 years as a janitor and touched many lives. He had attended Hope Community Church when he was able.
He was preceded in death by his mother, a brother Kelly (Poncho) Brake, Jr., a son Dwain Steven Smith in 1996 and a grandson Kristopher Doebrick.
Survivors include a daughter Autumn Powell and fiancée Andre Furnace of Kansas City, Missouri; a step-father Ron Drennan of Conway, Missouri; 6 brothers Richard Brake of Marshfield, Missouri, Allen Brake and wife Merlene of Strafford, Missouri, Toney Brake and wife Deanna of Niangua, Missouri, Patrick Brake of Marshfield, Missouri, Jeff Brake of the state of Oklahoma, Billy Brake of Fordland, Missouri; 2 sisters Ronda McReynolds and husband Ronnie of Springfield, Missouri and Sandy Harrison and husband Eric of Marshfield, Missouri as well as 2 grandchildren Mikel Smith of the state of California and Larrissa Smith of Kansas City, Missouri.
