Steven Clay Young (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Steven Clay Young, of Urbana, MO, was born September 6, 1961, in Camdenton, MO to Clay and Joann (Garrison) Young. Steve departed this life for his Heavenly home August 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Steve was raised in Tunas, Missouri and attended school at Tunas, Skyline and graduated in 1979 from Macks Creek High School. He married the love of his life Shelly (Richardson) on June 11, 1982, at Cedar Ridge Church in Long Lane, Mo. Steve and Shelly welcomed four children, Shauna, Christy, Danica and Clayton. They made their home in Tunas, Mo and later moved to Urbana, Mo. He was a truck driver most of his life, driving for Kraft Foods for 20 years. Steve loved the simple joys in life – especially fishing and playing cornhole with friends and family. His kids and grandkids were his pride and joy. He was known for his ornery smile and loved to give anyone who would listen a hard time. He was preceded in death by his father, Clay Young, father-in-law and mother-in-law Gabby and Catherine Richardson, and sister-in-law Elizabeth Richardson. Steve is survived by his wife Shelly, of the home, daughter Shauna and husband Brandon of Marshfield, Mo, daughter Christy and husband Brandon of Urbana, Mo, daughter Danica and husband Hunter of Urbana, Mo, son Clayton and significant other Makayla of Urbana, MO, grandchildren Cody, Seth, Kaelin, Sophie, Gabbie, Taylor, Bryar, Landon, Lily, Brynlee, Harmony, Zane, Melody, Jasper, and great-grandson Blakley. He is also survived by his mother Joann, of Buffalo, Mo, brother Cliff and wife Jeanie of Buffalo, Mo, and brother-in-law Jeff of Long Lane, Mo. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends who will all truly miss him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday August 13, 2025, in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, Mo with Bro. Bill Autry officiating. Escorts will be Brandon Hall, Brandon Glor, Hunter Stanton, Danica Stanton-Young, Kelly Glor and Scott Willis. Honorary escorts will be Cody Hall and Seth Hall. Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery near Long Lane under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral home. Visitation will be Tuesday August 12, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
