Stevie Ann Lain (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Stevie Ann Lain, daughter of Steve Wayne and Shelley Ann Girard Lain, was born, March 13, 1988 in Springfield, Missouri. She departed this life, Wednesday, October 14, 2015, in her home, in Joplin, Missouri at the age of twenty-seven years, seven months and two days. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Violet Lain.
Survivors include her parents; Steve and Shelley Lain of Macks Creek, Missouri; her brother, Steven Taylor Lain of Macks Creek, Missouri; her partner, Katie Wiley of Joplin, Missouri; her paternal grandfather, Wayne Lain of Macks Creek, Missouri; her maternal grandparents, Bill and Sandy Girard of Camdenton, Missouri; aunts and uncles, Bill Girard, Jr. and wife Brenda of Macks Creek, Missouri, Lisa Waters and Travis Kinkaid of Macks Creek, Missouri and Mark Girard and wife Stefanie of Camdenton, Missouri; Katie’s parents and brother, Mark and Sharon Wiley and Dexter Wiley all of Colony, Kansas and a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Stevie was raised in Camdenton and was a graduate of Camdenton High School in the class of 2006. In high school she played basketball and volleyball. She was active in many organizations including the Spanish Club. She attended Ozarks Technical Community College and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Missouri State University in Parks and Recreation. She worked for the Missouri State Parks leading the Learn to Camp and Learn to Paddle programs. She was currently a Program Coordinator for Special Olympics.
She loved the outdoors, especially canoeing and kayaking. She loved to go camping and do dutch oven cooking. Sharing her outdoor expertise and love of nature brought her joy. She had a smile that warmed your heart and had a passion for helping others.
Although she left us early, we know that her memory will linger on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. -
