Susan Hensley's Obituary
Susan Earnestine “Tina” Hensley, daughter of Matthew and Inez Woods Carpenter, was born December 9, 1923, in Northview, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, October 20, 2008, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, ten months, and eleven days. In November of 1941, Tina was united in marriage to Cleo Cook who preceded her in death on January 3, 1977. On July 4, 1978, she was married to Weaver Hensley and together they shared nearly six years until his passing in March of 1984. Tina was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Chuck, in November of 1986; a nephew, Larry Carpenter, who was like a son to her; two sisters, Gladys and Betty; and five brothers, Henry, Ed, Glen, Lynn, and Lee. She is survived by her two sons, Corbin Cook and his wife, Dawn, of Hartville, Missouri, and Dennis Cook and his wife, Cheryl, of West Richland, Washington; two daughters, Susan Snavely and her husband, Kevin, of Branson, Missouri, and Jodi Crisp and her husband, Shane, of Gainesville, Missouri; one sister, Catherine Danzler, of Yuba City, California; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew, whom she raised and loved as her own children, Connie Cordi and Rose Stringfellow, both of Los Angeles, California, and Lee Carpenter Jr., of Mohave, California; as well as other relatives and many dear friends. Tina was raised in the Northview and Marshfield areas. After she met and married Cleo, they moved to Wichita, Kansas, in 1941 to make their home. She would remain in the Wichita area while Cleo served in the U.S. Army during World War II. They later moved to California and back to Kansas before moving to the Hartville area in 1966. She was devoted to the Pentecostal faith and had attended Sunshine and Hilltop churches while living in Hartville. Tina was a kind and caring person, and enjoyed taking care of and helping those in need. In her spare time, Tina enjoyed working in her yard, reading various books and especially loved to dance. Tina was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 pm on October 25, 2008 at the Mt. Zion Cemeetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Hartville Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Wright County Historical Society and donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
