Susanne Drake (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Susanne Drake, daughter of Henry C. and Norma J. Williams Petersen, was born April 24, 1943, in Neosho, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, August 31, 2020, in Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, four months, and seven days.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Susanne is survived by a daughter, Jean Nelson, and her husband, Stuart, of Marshfield, Missouri; two grandchildren, Christopher Nelson, and his wife, Charity, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Seanna Kalivoda, and her husband, Sam, of Manhattan, Kansas; two great-grandsons, Oliver Tiberius Nelson and Arthur Alexander Nelson; a sister, Sarah Risley, of Columbus, Kansas; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Neosho, Missouri, and graduated from Neosho High School. After she was married, she made her home in Oklahoma, Texas, and then back in Missouri. Through the years, she worked as a secretary and librarian, and also was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
She loved being a farmer’s daughter and liked taking care of her home. She enjoyed reading and sewing in her spare time. She was steadfast in her convictions and you always knew where you stood with her. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandsons.
Susanne was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Private family services are planned under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to Claws and Paws may be made through the funeral home.
