Sylvia Bennett's Obituary
Sylvia May Bennett, daughter of Jasper Fletcher and Cora (Garrison) Stewart, was born November 3, 1921, in Macomb, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, February 13, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, three months, and ten days. On May 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to Smith Bennett, and to this union two daughters and one son were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Smith, on January 10, 2000; an infant son and daughter, Denny and Carlene; a granddaughter, Carla Ramsey; five brothers, Henry, Ruben, Ernest, Raymond, and Everett Stewart; and two sisters, Edna Binley, and Fern Smith. Sylvia is survived by a daughter, Theresa Ramsey, and her husband, Charlie, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ella Stewart, of Mansfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She lived her entire life in the Macomb and Mansfield communities, except for the time she spent faithfully serving her country in the WACS. She managed Olds Brothers Clothing Store, and was a cashier for Richard Brothers Grocery Store, both in Mansfield. Sylvia was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, where she enjoyed her worship and fellowship with the church family. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #128. In her spare time she loved sewing, making beautiful quilts, and greatly enjoyed embroidering. Sylvia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006, in the Corinth Baptist Church, Macomb. Burial will be in the Macomb Cemetery with full military rites. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri. Memorial contributions to the Wright County Childrens Home may be made through the funeral home.
