Thelma Cravens (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Thelma Cravens, daughter of Landon Huey and Mary Sue Stanifer Winkler, was born December 28, 1920 in Sneedville, Tennessee and departed this life on Friday, May 13, 2016 in James River Care and Rehabilitation in Springfield, Missouri at the age of ninety-five years, four months and fifteen days.
On September 3,1941 she was united in marriage to Wilbur Howard Cravens and to this union two children were born. Wilbur preceded her in death on April 12, 2000. She was also preceded in death her parents, two grandsons, Greg Cravens and Craig Cravens; four sisters, Mae Pope, Nola Jones, Ada Crow, and Bertha Cravens; two brothers, Mack Winkler and John Winkler; son-in-law, Knial Cogdill.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Jane Codgill of Springfield, Missouri; her son, James Cravens and wife, Susie, of Rogersville, Missouri; five grandchildren, Brian Cogdill and wife, Julie, of Rogersville, Bradley Cogdill and wife, Kim, of Kansas City, Missouri, Kelli Presley and husband, Eric, of Branson, Brent Cravens of Springfield, and Gary Cunningham and wife, Ashley, of Daytona Beach, Florida; nine great-grandchildren, Joshua Cogdill and wife, Stephanie, Devin Cogdill, Ethan Cogdill, Noah Cogdill, Brittany Cogdill, Tyler Cogdill, Anna Presley, Ben Presley and Aubree Cunningham; one great-great-granddaughter, Charlie Cogdill; sister, Shirley Bogart and husband, Jerry, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
She was born in Tennessee and moved with her family to Mansfield, Missouri in the mid 1930’s.
Thelma made a profession of faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Seymour Cumberland Presbyterian Church where her husband, Wilbur, preached for over 40 years.
In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and quilting and was a member of the Pleasant Valley Quilting Club. Thelma greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
Thelma was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and know she and dad have been reunited for eternity.
