Theodore (Ted) M. Jones (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Theodore Madison “Ted” Jones, son of Solomon F. and Martha J. Johnson Jones, was born May 10, 1930, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, August 13, 2010, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, three months, and three days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lyle Jones.
Ted is survived by three brothers, Howard Jones, and his wife, Neva, Larry Jones, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Richard Jones, and his wife, Carol, of Eugene, Oregon; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1948. He entered the United States Navy and served his country faithfully just prior to the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Ted moved to Peoria, Illinois, where he worked as a machinist for several years. He then entered the Merchant Marines and served in that endeavor for most of his professional life. Upon retiring from the Merchant Marines, he moved to Village Mills, Texas, where he made his home until coming back to Lebanon about three years ago.
Ted was raised in the Methodist faith and was a member of Wildwood United Methodist Church in Texas.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He also greatly liked doing woodworking projects. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed being a very special uncle.
Ted was a loving brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.
