Thomas E. Flanary (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Thomas Ezra Flanary, son of Thomas H. and Ona K. Busick Flanary, was born December 12, 1927, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, December 29, 2018, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, and seventeen days.
He was united in marriage to Ruby Pauline Johnson, and to this union two daughters were born. Ruby passed away in 1960.
On December 26, 1973, he was married to Wanda L. McCormick, who passed away on July 19, 2003.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild, Denny Pulley; a brother, George “Dink” Flanary; and a sister, Ona M. Sutton.
Tom is survived by two daughters, Linda Callahan, and her significant other, Don Walker, of Bolivar, Missouri, and Pauline Froiland, and her husband, Ralph, of Ventura, California; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack L. Flanary, and his wife, Edith, of Humansville, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area and attended Bolles School. He entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he went to work as a traveling welder and lived in Alaska and various locations while working on the Alaskan pipeline. He eventually retired back to Lebanon, Missouri, where he continued welding and owned and operated the Sweet Things Candy Store for several years.
Thomas followed the Baptist faith throughout his life.
He was a sixty-two member of the Pipe Liners Union Local # 798. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Club. His great passion was fishing and he liked antique cars and had restored some.
Thomas was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
