Thomas Harmon's Obituary
Thomas Jefferson Harmon Jr., son of Thomas Jefferson Sr. and Lora Lucille Bateman Harmon, was born November 7, 1954, in East St. Louis, Illinois. He departed this life Sunday June 7, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-four years and seven months. On April 28, 1994, he was united in marriage to Suzanne Kay Travis. Together they shared the past fifteen years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lucille Harmon; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and a niece, Elizabeth Anne Felix. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Harmon of the home; four children, Timothy Harmon and wife Renee of Des Moines, Iowa, Tinslee Poor and husband Justin of Dallas, Texas, Terry Harmon of Springfield, Missouri, and Jennifer Harmon of Linn Creek, Missouri; two grandsons, Nicholas and Brayden Harmon; three sisters, Patricia Felix and Brad Lindsay of Fulton, Missouri, Michelle Greene and husband Dana of Vandalia, Missouri, and Sheryl Woods of Auxvasse, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Tom was raised in Eldon and Lake Ozark, Missouri, and graduated from School of the Osage. He later received a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from Lincoln University where he was active in the R.O.T.C. After college he worked for Harms Architecture and later C&L Excavating. While working for C&L Excavating, he served as a volunteer fireman for Lake Ozark and Eldon and served on the board of the Lake Ozark Fire Protection District. He retired as a Sergeant from the Lake Ozark Police Department. He went on to own and operate Harmon Construction and later Softouch Interactive. He was currently working for Transland Trucking. He loved baseball and served for many years as the President of the Lake Ozark Little League. He invested many hours to make sure the children had a great baseball program in the lake area. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and boating. Most of all, he enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren and family. Tom was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday June 11, 2009 at Allee-Holman-Howe funeral home. Burial will be in the Allee Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm until time of service under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
