Thomas Turner's Obituary
Thomas Hart Benton Turner, son of Rex B. and Susan M. Darnay Turner, was born August 7, 1962, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, February 26, 2009, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of forty-six years, six months, and nineteen days. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents. Tom is survived by his parents, Rex and Susan Turner, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; a brother, Rex Turner, Jr., of Phillipsburg, Missouri; five sisters, Gwen Riggs, and her husband, Duane, of Lebanon, Missouri, Theresa Wolken, of Marshfield, Missouri, Jessica Turner, of Springfield, Missouri, Jennifer Linders, and her husband, Robert, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Heather Hill, of Strafford, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Phillipsburg community and graduated from Conway High School in the Class of 1980. Shortly after graduating, he joined the United States Air Force and was trained as an electronic aeronautics technician. He then returned to Phillipsburg where he made his home on the family property. He had moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri a few months ago. Thomas was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conway, Missouri. Most of his youth was spent on the ball field as he was a great pitcher and outfielder with a tremendous right throwing arm. He had many hobbies, including hunting; particularly bow hunting, trapping, and fishing, and also collected stamps, marbles, coins and knives. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler and cutting wood for the family. He loved his animals, especially his horse, Poncho Villa, and several cats and dogs. He enjoyed traveling the country, making friends, taking walks and spending time outdoors. During his quiet moments, he liked reading and listening to music. He also was a fan of the M.S.U. Lady Bears. His family was very important to him and he greatly enjoyed his nieces and nephews. Tom was a loving son, brother, uncle, and nephew, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday March 3, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conway, Missouri. Burial will be in Lonesome Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Monday evening 7-8:30 pm at the Funeral Home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Mental Health America.
