Timothy Wayne Gideon, Sr., son of Frank Thomas and Sara Ellen Elizabeth (Getman) Gideon, was born September 14, 1958, in Columbus, Kansas. He departed this life Saturday, June 11, 2011, in his home, near Hartville, Missouri, at the age of fifty-two years, eight months and twenty-seven days.
On June 9, 1983, he was united in marriage to Lucille Manzar Stephens, and to this union two children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Lee Gideon and Thomas Ervin Gideon; and a sister, Twila Jo Gideon.
Tim is survived by his wife, Lucy, of the home; his son, Timothy Wayne Gideon, Jr. and companion, Heather Foreman, of Lebanon, MO; his daughter, Geneva Jo Shockley and husband, Wayne, of Seymour, MO; six grandchildren, Timothy Wayne,III, Mekenzi, Lennon, Leelah, Zoey, and Jeremiah; a number of step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Benjamin Gideon and wife, Dottie, of Grovespring, MO; two sisters, Darlene LaDuke and husband, Paul, of Macomb, MO, and Mary Ann Jones, of Marianna, FL, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Born in Kansas, the family moved to Wright County in 1962. He graduated from Hartville High School with the Class of 1976. He later joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country faithfully. Throughout his life he has lived in the Lebanon and Hartville area.
Tim professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of the Green Valley Baptist Church. One of his greatest gifts was he always was willing to help someone in need. As a young man he grew up in a farming lifestyle which goes hand in hand with his favorite thing to do, work in his garden. He had an interesting sense of humor and enjoyed jokes, especially if he was the one playing them!
He had several jobs through out his life, but he found his niche when he started over the road truck driving. He enjoyed traveling, meeting new people and appreciated the beautiful scenery God provided around the United States.
He loved and lived for his family, especially his grandchildren. He always had a lap or an arm ready and waiting to snuggle with them.
Tim was a loving husband, father and grandfather, a beloved brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and cherish the memories he created for his family and friends. He will live on in our hearts forever.
