Timothy Mizer (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Timothy Ivan Mizer, son of Oscar and Cordie Test Mizer, was born December 24, 1937, near Stoutland, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, August 26, 2012, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-four years, eight months, and two days.
On November 22, 1975, he was united in marriage to Laveeta C. Morehouse, and they shared the last thirty-six years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Tracy Allen Mizer, and Timothy Wayne “Ikerd” Mizer; a brother, Don Mizer; and four sisters, Sammie Lloyd, Loraine Wilson, Patsy Rohwer, and Virginia Wells.
Timothy is survived by his wife, Laveeta, of the home; two sons, Terry Mizer, and his wife, Sheila, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Bobby Joe Peterson, and his wife, Jackie, of Marshfield, Missouri; three daughters, Mary Massey, and her husband, Charles, Donna Baker, and her husband, Bryan, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Dora Vandergrift, and her husband, Stanley, of Suffel, Arkansas; twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sherman Mizer, of Eldon, Missouri, and Charles Mizer, of Belton, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and attended Cook School. He entered the United States Army as a young man, and served from January 17, 1956, until December 24, 1958. He was stationed in Germany for most of that time. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Tim returned to the Lebanon area, and worked for Montgomery Motors and Lebanon Ford Sales in their service departments for several years. He then worked for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources until retiring. He also worked in his own automobile repair shop for some time.
He liked building race cars, and restoring old cars. He also liked airplanes and enjoyed race cars and NASCAR. He liked being outdoors where his favorite activities were taking float trips and going on walks with his dog. He possessed a unique personality, and loved his family dearly.
Timothy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.
