Troy Branstetter's Obituary
Troy Branstetter, son of Raymond and Edna Plaster Branstetter, was born August 27, 1925, in Mansfield, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, May 5, 2007, in Christian Healthcare, in Republic, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, eight months, and eight days. On August 4, 1945 he was united in marriage to Velma Ross, and to this union four children were born. He later married Gloria June Austill Newton, on May 27, 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, Lonnie Raymond and Larry Olean Branstetter; two sisters, Louella May Stewart and Annetta Lucille Coffey. Troy is survived by his wife, Gloria, of the home; four children, Kevin Wesley Branstetter, of the state of Florida, Brian A. Branstetter, of Anchorage, Alaska, Kerry Wendall Branstetter, of the state of North Carolina, and Susan Kay Fritzemayer, of the state of Oklahoma; eight grandsons; four step-children, Jay Newton, and his wife, Diane, of Savannah, Missouri, Larry Newton, of Ironton, Missouri, Wanda Wedekind, and her husband, Wes, of West Frankfort, Illinois, and Scott Newton, and his wife, Nan, of Ozark, Missouri; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Jean Tyree, of the state of California, and Freda M. Stephenson, of Lebanon, Missouri; two brothers, Nolean B. Branstetter, of the state of Arizona, and Sammie Joe Branstetter, of Wichita, Kansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Mansfield and in December of 1943 he entered the United States Army, where he served his country faithfully during World War II. He was a former mayor and alderman of Mansfield and was a member of the American Legion Clarence King Post #128. Troy had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mansfield First Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing and operating his CB “Ham” Radio. Troy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery, north of Mansfield. Memorials to the Mansfield First Baptist Church may be made through the funeral home.
