Valerie Hartz's Obituary
Valerie Jean Hartz, daughter of Able and Bonna Jean (Wahl) Young, was born February 11, 1959, in Lancaster, California. She departed this life Monday, October 8, 2007 in her home, at Norwood, Missouri, at the age of forty-eight years, seven months, and twenty-seven days. On June 14, 1985 she was united in marriage to Joseph Edmund Hartz and together they spent twenty-two years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jerald Young. Valerie is survived by her husband, Joseph, of the home; a daughter, Julie Looney, and her husband, Nick, of Hartville, Missouri; a son, Daryl Dwayne McConnell, and his wife, Jess, of Hampton, Virginia; a step-daughter, Sabrina Hartz, of Hagerstown, Maryland; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Sanders, and her husband, Jerry, of Norwood, Missouri, and Gladys Moore, and her husband, Kenneth, of Caldwell, Idaho; a brother, John Young, of Mansfield, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Melva Young, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born in California and moved to Missouri with her family at the age of five and graduated from Norwood High School in the Class of 1977. She worked various jobs while living on Naval bases. After she met and married Joseph she took night classes to become a Paralegal in 1989 while living in California, then in January of 2000 they moved back to the Norwood Area, where she worked with child support enforcement. Valerie attended Victory Church, where she enjoyed her fellowship. She centered her life on her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed working on crafts, sewing and crocheting, and working in her garden growing vegetables and beautiful flowers. Valerie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Hartville. Burial will be in the Steele Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri.
