Veda Louise Bingham (Seymour)'s Obituary
Veda Louise (Thomas) Bingham, daughter of Jasper and Faye (Piland) Thomas, was born May 24, 1935 in Gainesville, Missouri. She departed this life on Thursday, October 25, 2012 in her home at the age of seventy-seven years, five months, and one day.
Veda started as a fighter, weighing only 3 pounds at birth, she had overcome many obstacles, proving she was a true Ozark country girl. Veda grew up in Gainesville, Missouri, graduating from Gainesville High in 1953. She went on for her teaching certificate at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. While there she met the love of her life, William Bill Bingham. In May of 1957 the couple was united in marriage and to this union two sons were born. She taught in a one room schoolhouse. The young couple moved to Lebanon and started their family. Eight years later they moved to Olathe Kansas where their second son was born and raised. After the passing of Bill in 1975, Veda returned to work as a school bus driver for ten years to provide for her family. Always wanting to serve her family and community, Veda joined the Ladies Auxiliary for the Fire Department while in Olathe Kansas. She moved to Seymour, Missouri in 2008, and made it her home until her passing.
Early in her life, Veda made Jesus her Lord and Savior, faithfully serving Him no matter what challenges she faced. A member of the First Baptist Church of Seymour, she made dinner for the youth on Wednesday evenings, until her health prevented her from attending. Veda loved her church family and never wavered in praying for those in her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of eighteen years, William Bill Bingham,; her son Dwain Bingham; and two brothers, Rayford Thomas and Nuel Thomas.
She is survived by her son David Bingham (GeriAnna) of Louisville, Kentucky; her Grandchildren Kerensa, Kaden, and Kaylee Weinbrenner of Overland Park, Kansas; her sister Naomi Gregg of New London, Texas; and Robert Johnson of Grove, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of dear family and friends.
With her firecracker spirit, her tender heart and caring nature, Veda has left a legacy of love for those that shared her life. She was straight up honest, and would do anything she could for someone else. Known for her cooking, she shared her talents, teaching GeriAnna how to decorate cakes, making it seem so easy. Veda loved much, laughed a lot and truly lived each moment of her life. She was an avid fisherman, and even enjoyed catching them from her deck after the Grand Lake had risen around her deck in Grove, Oklahoma. She understood having faith, counting your blessings, and how to give unconditional love.
Veda Louise (Thomas) Bingham, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend, lived her life a humble servant of our Lord and Savior. She fought the good fight, and finished her course, Veda Bingham kept the faith. We celebrate her life and accomplishments, holding on to the truth that one day we will meet again.
