Velma L. Layten's Obituary
Velma Lucille Layten, daughter of James L. and Grace E. Armstrong Wasmer, was born November 19, 1943, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, June 28, 2008, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, seven months, and nine days. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; two brothers, Jerry and James Wasmer; and a sister, Margaret Galbreath. Velma is survived by seven children; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers; one sister; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She lived most of her life in the Lebanon area, until moving to Roach, Missouri for the last year and a half. Throughout her life, she was a devoted homemaker to her family and also worked as a waitress and as a truck driver for several years. Velma had followed the Pentecostal faith throughout her life. She enjoyed being outdoors where her favorite activities were fishing and camping. She also liked anything to do with Westerns and cowboys. She was a very friendly person and enjoyed spending time visiting with her family and friends. Velma will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, in the Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
