Vena Romero's Obituary
Vena Florence Romero, the daughter of Maude Miller and Pedro Gongora was born December 31, 1926, in Corozal, Belize, Central America. In her early twenties she met and married Osbaldo Romero. From that union Florence conceived five children, Ulrica, Irma, Eva, Lilia and Osvaldo. Florence was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Osvaldo Romero; three brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Ulrica Vasquez, and her husband, Hipolito, and Irma Kuylen, and her husband, Frank, all of Belize City, Central America, Eva Matus, of Upland, California, and Lilia Matus, and her husband, Jose, of Seymour, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and dear friends. Florence was born and raised in Belize, Central America. She and her husband moved from Corozal to Belize City in the hopes of providing a better life for their children. At the age of forty, Florence decided to go back to school where she proudly received her teaching credentials. Florence was a loving mother and grandmother who always thought of her family’s needs and was always willing to help in whatever way she could. We celebrate her life and many accomplishments, and we will cherish each wonderful memory of her time with us. Note: The Family would like to acknowledge and thank everyone, especially St. John’s Hospice Care of Springfield, Missouri, for their thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday September 20, 2008 at the Immaculate Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Mansfield, Missoui under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri..
