Venita Edith Hyder (Seymour)'s Obituary
Venita Hyder, adored mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, departed this earthly life Sunday, May 17, 2020, at her home in Seymour, Missouri. She was eighty-one years, eight months, and fourteen days wise, and left a lifetime of cherished memories for her family.
The second eldest of seven children, she was born Venita Edith Harvey on September 3, 1938, at home in Seymour, Missouri, to Raymon J. and Hollie Edith (Johns) Harvey. She was raised in Douglas and Webster counties, moved to Fordland in the fifth grade and stayed until her senior year. Venita married Bobby Jack Hall on September 29, 1956, and together they had five children. Venita was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter, having been taught by her mother, and made nearly all her children’s clothes, outfits for her dogs, and fun projects for the kids like making pillows with pockets that held their pajamas. Venita was a fun-loving mom who set a good example for her children.
Venita was a woman of faith. She was baptized January 29, 2006, and attended Seymour Nazarene Church until limited by health. She was a fantastic cook famous for her homemade potato rolls, chicken and dumplings, and peanut butter fudge – all made with love. Every year, family looked forward to her magnificent Christmas feast which fed family and many friends. Venita taught her children they should care for their elders, and it was tradition for many years at Christmas to take huge platters of food to the Seymour Senior Citizen Center – a memory they still love to share.
On July 28, 1978, Venita was united in marriage to Jimmie Dale Hyder. They enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and liked to hunt and fish. Their home was filled with her treasured fur babies, Misty, Abigail and Daisy, and as grandkids came along, her quilting project list grew. Over the years Venita made dozens of quilts and a custom quilt for every child and grandchild; she had one started at the time of her passing.
In addition to her parents, Venita was greeted in Heaven by her beloved husband of 31 years, Jimmie Hyder; her son, Bradley Jay Hall; two daughters, Barbara Janette Hall, and Cynthia Lynn Hall; grandson, Michael D. Hall; two brothers, Logan Dean Harvey and his wife, Shirley, and Albert Glen Harvey; a sister, Dorothy Lea Harvey; four brothers-in-law, David Wilkerson, Harold Scott, Ronald Scott, and William McNish; and sister-in-law, Sheryl Hyder. Venita had also laid to rest her loyal canine companion, Misty.
Venita is survived by daughters, Susan Ince of Ozark, Missouri, and Katharine and Gary Whitehead of Springfield, Missouri, Debra and Reg Silva of West Plains, Missouri, Rebecca Stiles of Battlefield, Missouri, and Shawnya Matney; ten grandchildren, Amanda (Daniel) Adams, Erika (John) Russell, Stephanie (Aubrey) Hutson, Alexandra Wallace, Charli Peak, Daniel Jay Hall, Lisa Marie (Steven) Davis, Teresa Dawn Hall, Leigh Ann Hoggatt, and Andrew James Hoggatt, and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Lowell and Joan Harvey, of Cassville, Missouri, and Jackie Gene and Judy Harvey, of Springfield, and sister, Joanna Michelle Wilkerson of Seymour; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Scott, Carol Scott, and Sandra McNish, and brother-in-law, Dennis Hyder; lots of nieces and nephews, extended family, and many more dear friends and neighbors.
Venita Edith Hyder was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a caring sister and aunt, and a loyal friend. She was a fun spirit who was a joy to know and a pleasure to be around. Venita will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
