Vera Kelsey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Vera Kelsey, age 92 of Lebanon, passed away in her home Monday morning, March 18, 2019. She was born December 18, 1926 in Prague Czech Republic.
In 1948, the communists took over the country and did not allow people to leave the country. Vera escaped to Nurnberg, Germany in 1950 and spent one and a half years in a refugee camp where she met her finacee, Veny Seiler, also from Prague. They got married and in 1952, emigrated to the united States and lived in Chicago for 35 years. They had three children, Carl, Renee and Edward.
Vera worked in a hospital as a nurses aid for a few years and later went back to school to obtain a degree in Medical Technology. She worked in a laboratory in Edgewater Hospital. In 1965 she attended the University of Chicago and earned a degree in Nuclear Medicine. In 1973 she traveled to Germany and worked a few months at the Technical University in Munich. Upon returning to the U.S, she returned to work at Edgewater Hospital.
In 1982, after her husband retired, she moved to Lebanon and worked in Rolla in Nuclear Medicine for three years. Her husband, Veny died in 1985. Vera married August Geiler of Osage Beach, Missouri in 1990.After being married for seven years, August suffered a stroke and she cared for him for 11 years until he passed away in 2008. She married Harold Kelsey in 2009 and they made their home in Lebanon. He passed away in 2017 of colon cancer.
Vera is survived by her son, Carl, of Hawaii, her daughters, Renee, of Colorado and son, Edward, of Florida; a grandson, Eddie, a granddaughter, Ammie, and great-grandchildren.
