Vera McWilliams' Obituary
Vera Alta Jordan McWilliams, age eighty-eighty, of Goodletsville, Tennessee, formerly of Mansfield, Missouri, died Tuesday November 17, 2009. She was born November 19, 1920 to Roy and Tina Jordan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne McWilliams; a brother, Merl Jordan; a grandson, Donald David McWilliams; and her great granddaughter, Jade Marie McWilliams. Vera is survived by her brother, Glenn, and his wife, Betty of Standwood, Washington; her sister, Elva Lou Craig, and her husband, Jack, of Dayton, Ohio; her children, Wesley McWilliams and his wife, Pattie, of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, Darell McWilliams, and his wife, Linda, of Goodletsville, Tennessee, Marilyn Meidell, and her husband, Frank, of Standwood, Washington, Carol Jordana, and her husband, Jonn, of Ogden, Utah, and Terry McWilliams of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and her daughter-in-law, Susie DeVries, of Little Rock, Arkansas. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren. She married Wayne on December 25, 1945 at his home in Fort Scott, Kansas. She graduated from Union College in 1945 with a teaching degree. She taught in Kansas, Washington and Missouri. Throughout her career Vera taught school almost forty years. She was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she held various church offices. During her life, she and Wayne gave a home to 40 foster children. Vera passed away in the hospital after a nine month battle with bone cancer. Her son, Darell, and his family were by her side. She will be greatly missed by her family and a host of friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday November 24, 2009 at the Ava Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial will be in the Hensley Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday Eveninf 7-9:00 p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
