Verba Faye Wolfe (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Verba Faye Wolfe, daughter of Corbett and Mayme Davis Weaver, was born October 8, 1923, near Grovespring, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, February 6, 2013, in Webco Manor, in Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, three months, and twenty-eight days.
In 1967, she married Charles Wolfe, and they shared forty-four years before his passing in 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her step-father, Clyde McMillen, who was like a father to her.
Faye is survived by a sister, Dottie Ruth Mace, of Grovespring, Missouri; three nephews, Donald Gene Mace, of Seymour, Missouri, Larry Mace, and John Mace, both of Grovespring, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, including two great-nieces, Doris Moore, of Hartville, Missouri, and Angela Teubner, of Lebanon, Missouri, who helped care for her in her senior years; a first cousin, Rachel Caudle, of Lebanon, Missouri; her caregiver and friend, Nancy Griffin, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Grovespring community. She then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she lived most of her life. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband, Faye owned several Laundromats and stereo stores for several years. After retiring, she moved to Lebanon and made her home.
She loved to travel and had done so extensively. She particularly enjoyed traveling across the United States, and collecting rocks from all over the country. She had a great love for animals and possessed a special knack of communicating with them and charming them. She could get squirrels to sit on her shoulder and rabbits to eat from her hand. She enjoyed all kinds of animals and had everything from exotic birds to pet cats and dogs. She had adopted many animals into her home over the years. She also enjoyed dancing and was especially fond of polkas. She was a very friendly person who never met a stranger.
Faye was a loving sister, aunt, great-aunt, and cousin, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
