Verbia Howell's Obituary
Verbia Lavaughn Howell, daughter of William L. and Ada Ethel Simmons Howell, was born May 1, 1925, near Grovespring, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, November 7, 2009, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, six months, and six days. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ellis Howell, and an infant, Ancil Howell. Verbia is survived by two brothers, Sidney Howell, and Billy Howell, both of Grovespring, Missouri; a sister, Teen Sharp, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised on the family farm near Grovespring, where she continued to live for all of her life. In addition to managing the household, Verbia helped her brothers in the operation of the farm. She had also worked for the Rice Stix Factory in Lebanon for a few years. Verbia was saved at the age of twenty-five and had attended Mt. Zion (Cuba) Freewill Baptist Church for several years. Later, she attended the Orla Baptist Church. She liked to cook and enjoyed feeding the farm hands, family and friends. She was always willing to help others and was especially good about caring for the sick in the neighborhood. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her brothers, sister, nieces and nephews. Verbia was a loving sister and aunt, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 10, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the McBride Cemetery. Visitation is Monday evening 7-8:30 p.m at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
