Verlin Hadley Myers (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Verlin Hadley Myers, son of John and Laura Bell Hill Myers, was born February 16, 1932, in Laclede County, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, September 24, 2019, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, seven months, and eight days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Skip Myers; seven brothers, Luther, Kirby, Ellis, Howard, Ivan, Willis and Farmer; and three sisters, Alta, Artie, and Roby.
Verlin is survived by a son, Rocky Myers, of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Joseph Myers, and his wife, Peggy, of Lebanon, Missouri, Deana Frisch, and her husband, Alec, of St. Louis, Missouri, Dusty Myers, and his wife, Amber, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Lee Peter, of Camdenton, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Winifred, Guthrie, Conner, Cole, Kinsley, Nayeli, Kyleigh, and Kylan; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Laclede County, near the Crossroads community, and attended Crossroads School. He then made his home in the same area and worked in the construction of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for several years. He also liked cutting wood.
Verlin made his profession of faith in Christ early in his life and was a longtime member and Deacon in Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church. He centered his life around his church and his family.
He was a member of the Construction Workers Union for many years. He enjoyed growing a large garden each year, cooking and baking. He also liked to go fishing anywhere, anytime. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Verlin was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-seven years.
Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. at Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church in Lebanon, Missouri. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 27 beginning at 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
