Verna Fugate (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Verna Berniece Fugate, 75 of Bolivar, Missouri went home to be with the Lord Monday, December 5th.
Berniece was born in Santa Barbara, California to Charles and Elaine Bouling. Early in her life, the family would move to Bolivar. It was here that Berniece would meet her husband, Bill Fugate. Bill washed dishes in the cafeteria at SBU, and Berniece’s mother, who cooked for the school, introduced them. They were married on November 15, 1959.
Bill and Berniece had two sons, Bruce and Brien. They raised their boys in a godly home, and sought to teach by example. Berniece began every day by reading the scriptures, and made sure the family regularly attended Sunday service.
Berniece loved life, and celebrated it through painting, drawing, and keeping a garden. She loved to be outdoors, especially when that meant playing with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her as a wife, a mother, and a dear friend.
Berniece is preceded in death by her father, Charles Bouling, and her brother, Kenneth Boulding.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Bill Fugate; as well as her two sons, Bruce and wife Cathy of Bolivar, MO, and Brien and wife Marie of Poplar Bluff, MO. Berniece is also survived by her brother, Don Bouling of Ash Grove, MO, and sister Lois Bouling of Bolivar, MO, as well as grandchildren Jeromy Fugate, Angelia Hensen, Cassandra Sanders, Justine Fugate, Jennifer Lee-Fugate, and a number of great grandchildren.
Visitation for Berniece Fugate will be held Thursday, December 8th, from 5-7 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December, 9th at 2:00 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO with burial to follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home.
