Vernia Marie Chastain (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Vernia Marie Chastain was born January 26, 1937 in Grovespring, Missouri to Waldridge H. and Dessie Moore Jones. She passed away at Lebanon South Nursing and Rehab Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the age of eighty-eight years and three days.
She was raised in the Lebanon area and was a graduate of Lebanon High School.
She was married to Paul Chastain. Vernia loved working and she and Paul managed the Lil’ Country Store and Log Cabin Canoes for many years. She made many friends while working and enjoyed being around people.
She loved going to church and loved the Lord. She was faithful at reading her Bible and had a close relationship with her heavenly Father.
Vernia was preceded in death by her children, Greg Blaine and Teresa Leighton; her grandchildren, Eric Ellis, Joshua Leighton and Jason Fletcher; her brothers, Wallace Jones, Willis Jones, an infant twin brother, Vernon Jones; and her sister, Virgia Eagon.
She is survived by her children, Tim Chastain and his wife Sherrie, Paula Bost and her husband Chris and Bobby Chastain and his wife Debbie, all of Lebanon, Missouri; her sister, Virginia Wood of Lebanon, Missouri; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Vernia was very fond of animals and was a wonderful cook. She looked forward to big family gatherings as well as the holidays. She loved to cook for her family.
She was a hard working woman and always supportive of her family and loved ones. Throughout her life, Vernia was known for her dedication to her family. Her home was a haven of warmth, love and laughter where countless memories were created and treasured.
There will be a visitation Monday, February 3, 2025, from 1 – 1:45 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Mount Rose Memorial Park.
A memorial to Gideon’s International has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
