Vernie "Dean" Howard (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Vernie Dean Howard, son of Vernie and Effie Brumley Howard, was born February 21, 1942, in Newburg, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, March 10, 2019, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, and eighteen days.
On May 31, 1995, he was united in marriage to Maria Carmen Murillo, and they shared the last twenty-three years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Vernon and a special uncle, Barney.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Carmen, of the home; two daughters, Rachelle Howard, and Cynthia Murillo, both of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Luis Gonzalez, of Lebanon, Missouri, Johnny Howard, and Bobby Bare, both of Rolla, Missouri, and Arthur Howard of Newburg, Missouri; a number of grandchildren; three sisters, Ormalea Morgan, of Omaha, Nebraska, Carolyn Snow, of Falcon, Missouri, and Joan Murrell, of Louisburg, Missouri; two nieces, Jane Ashby, and Anita Snow; a nephew, Billy Snow; as well as several other nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Newburg, Missouri area. He then worked as a cowboy for a time before becoming a truck driver. Through the years, he worked for various transport companies and drove all over the United States.
He enjoyed being outdoors and liked fishing, hunting, and searching for mushrooms. He also liked going on road trips, and worked hard at caring for his yard, of which he was very proud. He loved his dog, “Roscoe” and enjoyed spending time with him. His family was very dear to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
