Verona Josephine Price -Bolen (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Verona Josephine Price-Bolen, age 95, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri.
She was born August 11, 1915 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Ulysses Grant Gariss and Mae (Meyers) Gariss.
Verona married Walter Price on October 31, 1931 in Bolivar, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1974.
Verona was a nurses aide at Citizen’s Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar for 11 years before her retirement in 1983. She was a charter member of the Fair Play Baptist Church the Golden Age Club in Fair Play, and also a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her hsuband, Walter Price, her son, Bobby G. Price, two brothers, John Gariss, Sonny Gariss, and two sisters, Dorothy Bryant and Yvonne Berthhold.
Verona is survived by her daughter, Susan Price of Springfield, Missouri, her sister, Juanita Miller of New Market, Virginia and three nephews, Dr. Paul Murphy of New Market, Virginia, Tom & Corrine Bryant of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Jim & Kay Bryant of Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm, Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Fair Play, Missouri with Reverend David Stunkel officiating. Musical selections will be “Suppertime”, “In The Garden”, Wind Beneath My Wings”, “Ava Maria” and a postlude number “Candle In The Wind” being sung be Chris Taylor and Rona Sukovaty with Chris playing the piano. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery west of Fair Play, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Steve Bruce, Steve Sukovaty, Mark Jeffries, Rodney Bolen, Shannon Alcorn and Dr. Paul Murphy. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday evening at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri.
