Victor Kimball Watkins' Obituary
Today we celebrate the life of Victor Kimball Watkins who was born on April 2, 1926 and died March 23, 2007. Vic was born in Hemple, Missouri to Jesse and Lucy (Auxier) Watkins. He lived most of his early years in and around Saint Joseph, Missouri, with his parents and two brothers, Kenneth “Red” Watkins and Wayne Watkins. All have preceded him in death. Vic is survived by a loving wife of forty years, Anita (Edwards); a devoted son, Victor Gary Watkins and his wife, Christi, of Henderson, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his life. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Elsie Blair, Norma Houston and her husband, Virgil, and Mary Lou Edwards all of Camdenton, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews, which held a special place in his heart. Victor proudly served his county in World War II and the Korean Conflict from 1943 to 1951 as a Petty Officer Commissaryman. He joined the Navy at the age of seventeen and served overseas and at home. Following his military service, Vic worked for the Veterans Administration in Excelsior Springs, Missouri and Leavenworth, Kansas. In addition, he owned numerous businesses throughout Kansas and Missouri. He and Anita moved to her hometown of Camdenton over twenty-eight years ago. They became the owners, builders and developers of Watkins Subdivision in Camdenton. Vic remained active in the housing subdivision development and was well known around the area for his involvement in the building and construction business. Vic was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camdenton. While in Leavenworth, Kansas, he taught various classes for boys at the local church. He also served on a number of building boards. Victor lived an active life and thrived on hard work. He will be missed for his quick wit and his love of laughter. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007, in the First Baptist Church, Camdenton. Burial will be in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direciton of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
