Victor L Mills (Hartville)'s Obituary
Victor LeRoy Mills Senior, was born August 23rd 1945, in Brawley, California, to Ralph and Mattie Mills. He passed peacefully January 18, 2018 at Mercy in Springfield, amongst family and friends. He is pre deceased by: His parents, an infant brother, Larry, Wife Joy, and Son Jason.
Victor is survived by: Sister Sue Green of Denver, sons Fred Keplar of Joplin, Victor “Leroy” Mills and wife Angela Mills of Enumclaw, Washington, Jesse Mills of Hartville, and Grandsons Josh Keplar of Florida, Justin Keplar of Alaska, Granddaughters Haleigh Mills of Rio Grande, New Jersey, Tristin Carver-Mills of Enumclaw, Washington and, nephews and nieces, and cousins.
When Victor was young his family moved to Lamar, Colorado and remained until he graduated high school. He then joined the Navy and was shipped to San Diego for basic training, where he was discharged due asthma.
Victor ended up putting himself through junior college, and ended up going to work for Boeing in Seattle. While in Seattle he met his wife Joy, and they married April 7th 1970.
In the early 70’s Victor was laid-off from Boeing. He was recruited to work with Rowan Drilling and spent the next 14 years working many oil fields, most of which were in Alaska.
In the early 80’s Victor and family moved to Hartville, Missouri for the first time, where they made many wonderful friends. There they spent 3 years until Victor was laid off. The decision was then made to move back to the Seattle area, for better job opportunities; not only for Victor, but for 2 teenage boys getting ready to graduate.
Victor got a job with a saw mill, and later hired on with Heath Techna Aerospace. While working at Heath he reapplied at Boeing, and they snatched him up. He worked off and on there until his retirement in 2010.
He and Joy then bought a farm and moved back to Hartville. In 2015 Victor stepped in to take over operations of God’s Storehouse with the help of Joy and his son Jesse.
Victor was an avid New York Yankees fan, Mickey Mantle was his favorite player.
Victor, like his wife Joy, had a love of antiques; he collected old pie tins, thimbles and teapots
He will be missed. We love you Dad.
