She is preceded in death by her parents, Finis and Laura Jane Delcour; a brother-in-law, Orin Lemons; and two nieces, Theresa McBride and Daphne Delcour.
Violet is survived by her loving husband of forty-two years, John; two sisters, Ruby Lemons and Shirley McBride and her husband Gene; one brother, Eddie Delcour; three nieces, Debbie Farr, Devona Breeden, and Brandy Delcour; one nephew, Mike Lemons, one step-son, Johnny Cross and his wife Beth; two step-grandchildren, Bradley and Cole Cross, one step-daughter, Bonnita; a number of great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Violet was born and raised near Jerktail, Missouri and graduated from Hartville High School in 1957. Later she met and fell in love with John Cross and the two were wed on July 13, 1974 and have been together ever since. Violet was baptized at a young age and was an active member of the New Home Church.
Violet worked for H.D. Lee for over twenty-five years before finally retiring. When she wasn’t working she loved to work on her crafts and quilt. You could often catch her listening to Bluegrass while she was working with her crafts. She spent numerous hours working in her gardens and tending to her dolls. Violet also loved to watch those Cardinal Red Birds, rarely missing a game.
Violet was a loving wife, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend. We celebrate her life and many accomplishments and will always cherish the many wonderful memories she helped create.
