Virgie M Hopkins (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Virgie Marie Hopkins, daughter of Harrison and Maggie Quick Hall was born February 24, 1938 in Hartshorn, Missouri and departed this life on February 5, 2013 in Tiffany Heights Care Center in Mound City, Missouri at the age of seventy-four years, eleven months and eleven days.
She was united in marriage to Billy Hastings and to this union four children, Rick, Rex, Sherri and Donna were born. Billy preceded her in death in 1960. Several years later she married Jimmy Hopkins and to this union four children, Randy, J.C., Jeanette and Kim were born. Jimmy preceded her in death in 1996. Virgie was also preceded in death by four brothers, Delmar, Lee, Virgil and Gene Hall and a grandson, Travis Lee.
Virgie is survived by four sons, Rick Hastings of Houston, Missouri, Rex Hastings and his wife, Valerie of Mansfield, Missouri, Randy Hopkins of Bowman, North Dakota and J.C. Hopkins and his wife, Vicky of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; four daughters, Sherri Meers and her husband Lisle of Fairfax, Missouri, Donna Wade and her husband Vint and Jeanette Taylor and her husband Tom all of Moab, Utah and Kim Hopkins of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Virgie had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Pentecostal/Baptist faith.
She was born in Hartshorn and raised in the Mtn. Grove area. She was a homemaker and had moved several times over the years to be near her children and grandchildren.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and going to casinos.
Virgie’s life was her children. She would do whatever she could to help them. She was a very caring and giving person and would give her last dime to someone if they were in need.
Virgie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will always cherish the many wonderful memories of the time spent with her.
