Virgil "Dale" Officer (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Virgil Dale Officer, son of Virgil E. and Willa J. Green Officer, was born August 27, 1939, near Morgan, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, August 15, 2020, in his home, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, eleven months, and nineteen days.
On June 9, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Lewis, and to this union one son was born.
His parents preceded him in death.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Mary, of the home; a son, Greg Officer, of Springfield, Missouri; a sister, Vera Lee Riffenberg, of Conway, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Morgan community and graduated from Conway High School. After he and Mary were married, they made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their son. Dale was employed by Detroit Tool and Engineering Company for a number of years. Later, the family moved to Springfield and made their home.
Dale had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
He enjoyed traveling and liked spending time in Florida. He loved music, particularly Bluegrass, liked music jam sessions, and had been in three different bands through the years. He was an excellent guitarist and especially enjoyed playing in the Bluegrass 5. He also liked bowling and crappie fishing.
Dale was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
Memorial contributions to Cox Health @ Home Hospice may be made through the funeral home.
