Virginia Lea Courson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Virginia Lea Courson, daughter of Joseph Isaac and Bertha Myrtle Oliver Young, was born October 29, 1930, in Stoutland, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, July 7, 2020, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, eight months, and nine days.
On June 6, 1961, she was united in marriage to Arthur James Courson, and they shared fifty-four years before his passing on June 10, 2014.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Don Courson; and eight brothers and sisters.
Virginia is survived by a daughter, Susan Randolph, and her husband, Bruce, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, David Courson, and his wife, Barbara, of Stoutland, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Matthew Randolph, Andrew Randolph, Jennifer Randolph, and her significant other, Jeff Gray, Kelly Cameron, and her husband, Evan, Stephanie Bentch, and her husband, Jamey, Sarah Lucas, and Amanda North, and her husband, Travis; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Junior Young, and his wife, Mary, and Jerry Young, all of Stoutland, Missouri; a sister, Sharon Boyer, of the State of Pennsylvania; five nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Stoutland community and graduated from Stoutland High School in the Class of 1949. While in high school, she played on the school volleyball team. After she and Arthur were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their family. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family she also worked in their restaurant operation.
Virginia made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years.
She was very outgoing and loved people. She liked playing Bingo, cooking, working in her garden, canning, and growing beautiful flowers in her yard. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed having time with all her grandchildren.
Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Funeral services for Virginia Courson will be Friday, July 10 at 2 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Stoutland Cemetery.
A memorial to Hillcrest Baptist Church has been established.
