Virginia Joan Lowe's Obituary
Virginia Joan Lowe, daughter of Carl and Emma Couper Peterson, was born August 29, 1934 in Grinnell, Iowa. She passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family December 16, 2007 in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, three months, and seventeen days. Virginia was united to Paul Raney, and to this union four children were born. She was preceded in death by her son, James Raney; her parents; a brother, Carl Reichel; and three sisters, Wilma Mae Emery, Mable Peterson, and Alberta Peterson. Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Paula Hoaglin, of Springfield, Missouri, Carol Lloyd, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Teresa Watson, of Springfield, Missouri; surviving siblings include a sister, Ann Raney and husband Ernie, of Norwood, Missouri; brothers, Harry Peterson and wife Joanna, of Newton, Iowa, Paul Peterson and wife Betty, of Apache Junction, Arizona, Bill Peterson and wife Carol, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Bob Peterson and wife, Gina, of Clinton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Matthew Hoaglin, Stacey Walters, Sherri Walters, and Brittany Watson, all of Springfield, Missouri, and Christy McGinnitie, of Mobile, Alabama; four great-grandchildren, Michael and Lauren Hoaglin, of Springfield, Missouri, and Marina and Trevor McGinnitie, of Mobile, Alabama. Virginia was born in Iowa and moved to Mansfield in 1938. She was a graduate of Mansfield High School in the Class of 1952, and had attended Mansfield Church of the Nazarene. In her spare time she enjoyed working crossword and word search puzzles, reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Nancy Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
