Virginia Marie Henson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Virginia Marie Henson, daughter of Lannie and Stella Mae Montgomery Deckard, was born June 1, 1937, near Niangua, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, August 25, 2010, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, two months, and twenty-four days.
On November 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert Lee Henson, and to this union four daughters and three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Kyle Henson, and Harold Ray Buttram; a brother, Norris Deckard; and four sisters, Louella McSpadden, Irene Wilson, Velda Peppers, and her twin, Malea Nardelli.
Marie is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Robert, of the home; her children, Luanna Terry, and her husband, Ron, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Danny Henson, and his wife, Barbie, of Lebanon, Missouri, Tonya Buttram, and her husband, Edgar, of Conway, Missouri, Truman Henson, and Treash Brown, of Lebanon, Missouri, Gary Henson, and his wife, Brenda, of Joplin, Missouri, Robin Coday, and her husband, Gary, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Rachel Brumley, and her husband, Larry, of Lebanon, Missouri; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Deckard, and his wife, Wanda, of Conway, Missouri, and Bill Deckard, and his wife, Cindy, of Camdenton, Missouri; two sisters, Alice Dudley, of Huntsville, Alabama, and Doris Wilson, of Shawnee, Kansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Niangua, Missouri community, and attended Amity School. After she and Robert were married, they made their home in Peoria, Illinois, for a few years, and then moved near Stoutland, Missouri. In 1968, the family moved to their present home west of Lebanon. Throughout the years, Marie was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family. In addition, she also worked as a cook for several local restaurants and businesses including, the Cloverleaf and Wyota Inn Restaurants, and Detroit Tool Company and Justice Furniture Company.
Marie was saved and baptized at the age of fifteen and had a deep and abiding faith in God. She often spoke of having special talks with her Lord and Savior while working in the garden. Marie had attended Lebanon First Assembly of God.
In her spare time she liked reading, cooking, and sewing. She was a very personable lady that enjoyed visiting with people wherever she went. Her family was foremost in her life and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
