Vonna Nadine Sartin (Seymour)'s Obituary
On August 14, 2015, our beloved Grammy, Vonna "Nadine" (Dickson) Sartin departed this life in Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, three months and four days.
Daughter of Robert and Lena (Good) Dickson, Nadine (Nade), as she was known to those who knew and loved her, was born May 10, 1929, in the Webster County area. The fifth of ten children, Nadine understood the blessings of family. She was raised in the Seymour area and graduated from Seymour High School in 1948. She married David Lee Sartin on December 10, 1950, and to that union two sons and a daughter were born. Nadine is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Irvin, Johnny, and Bo Dickson; and her sisters, Arlene Bakkum, Shirley Clift, and Mildred Owens. Nadine is survived by her children, Robert (Bob) Sartin and wife, Carol, of Seymour, Missouri; Donald (Don) Sartin and wife, Brenda, and Janet Hensley and husband, Jeff, all of Marshfield, Missouri; her grandchildren, Melisa Sartin; Bobbie Jean Bushman; Amy Clark and husband, Tim; Erin Marks and husband, Jason; Derek Tackkett; and Matt Hensley; her great-grandchildren, Corey, Dylan, Brenton, Dante, Wednesday, Landon and Isaac; and brothers, Bill Dickson, Jack Dickson and wife, Jaunita, and Keith Dickson and wife, Angie; as well as a host of dear family and friends. Nadine provided for her family working for H.D. Lee, receiving a ten year pin in 1976, and retiring after more than 20 years of service. Always a hard worker, she managed the Seymour laundromat and a consignment shop downtown. Quick with a smile and to give you the truth, Nadine raised her children to love each other; taught them to take pride in their work; and lived an example of a life with no regrets. She loved a good yard sale, listening to the Grand 'Ole Opry and spoiling her family. Nadine had a true mother's heart always putting others before herself. Using her resourcefulness and trusty duct tape, things weren't broken until the duct tape wore out. Grammy also had a serious sweet tooth, especially for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and could be easily bribed with the sweet treat. Everyone just wanted to hang out at "Grammy’s.” She saw to it that every kid that came through her door felt as if they were her own. She was famous for cooking late night meals and visiting well into the night with kids, grandkids and friends. Nadine’s family was the center of her life and her greatest triumph was to see them happy. Nadine came to know our Lord Jesus Christ during her illness and through this faith she leaves a legacy of peace and joy to all of those she loved so unconditionally. Nadine Dickson Sartin – a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend, will be deeply missed. We celebrate Grammy's life and take comfort in knowing that one day we will meet again.
