W. G."Bob" Snyder (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Wallace Gayle “Bob” Snyder, son of Lawrence Marion “Red” and Essie Ethel Starnes Snyder, was born October 30, 1927, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, February 22, 2014, in Christian Health and Rehabilitation Center North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, three months, and twenty-two days.
On July 3, 1949, he was united in marriage to Pauline Mae King, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Bill and Firman Snyder.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Pauline, of the home; a son, Wallace G. “Gregg” Snyder, and his wife, Margaret, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Paula G. (Snyder) Cox, of Waynesville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Lyle Cox, Lindsay Snyder, and Laura Stratton, and her husband, Joseph; four great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Josie, Paula Gail, and Samuel; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Lebanon, Missouri, and graduated from Lebanon High School. He started working at Bishop Furniture and then Palmer Furniture, and also drove an ambulance for a time. After he and Pauline were married, they made their home near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their family. Bob soon began a career in insurance and eventually became the regional manager for National Life and Accident Insurance Company and American General Life. He also was involved in Snyder Brothers Used Cars with his brother, Firman. Later, Bob worked for Capital Reserve Life Insurance Company for several years.
Bob had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a longtime active member of Heritage Baptist Temple.
His family was always at the center of his life and he enjoyed taking pictures of his children and grandchildren. He was especially devoted to Pauline and they shared most everyday together since retiring. His grandchildren were very important to him and he greatly liked sharing life’s lessons with them. Through the years, he had become well known in insurance circles and was highly respected. He had an appreciation for cars in general, but was always partial to Chrysler products.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated businessman, and a good friend to many.
Memorial donations to the AWANA Program Heritage Baptist Temple may be made through the funeral home.
