Walter moved from California to Hartville, Missouri in 1991 and then to Mansfield where he raised his two sons as a single parent. He raised his sons to love hunting, fishing and enjoyed time with them riding dirt bikes among other things. He worked for Paul Mueller Company retiring in 2014. He was known there as the “Crazy Russian” and earned perfect attendance status for many of those years where he enjoyed his position as a mobile crane operator and jokingly referred to working with “Tonka Toys”.
In 1999, Walter married Carol Heatherly and she became his treasured partner and they enjoyed trips to visit the lighthouses around the United States. They both loved taking photos and breathing in the ocean air. Before moving to Aldrich in 2009, Walter and Carol lived in Mansfield where they attended the Mansfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church and enjoyed the fellowship of many fine people and soon came to love Pastor Larry and Barbara Scott with whom they have become dear friends.
Walter was in a car accident in late 2018 where following tests it was found that he had an aggressive brain tumor. Walter was under the care of Integrity Hospice and the family especially thanks his nurse, George Martin, and the aide, Timbre for their attentive love and care for him. Also involved in his care was Need Help operated by Susan Brown and employee Keyshana. But it takes a village to take care of someone terminally ill, so we extend thanks to neighbors, Mike and Linda, Adren and Cindy, Shawn, Connor and Evan, Warren and Carole, Evon and Charles, Tom, Deby and Danny who all gave of themselves so selflessly. Also, thanks to hospice volunteers Carol and Fred who gave of their time so the caregiver could have an occasional break.
Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will always remember the many great times we had together.
