Wanda Belle Tinsley (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Wanda Belle Tinsley, age 92 of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Citizen’s Memorial Healthcare Facility.
She was the daughter of Lafayette McCracken and Margaret Emma McCracken, born near Elkton, Missouri.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husbands; two sisters, Vesta T. Hargiss Nelson and Waneta Tipton Brennan; three nephews, Alvin Gene Tipton, Ivan Nelson and Darrell Hargiss; one great grandson, Branden Lucky; one daughter-in-law, Mary M. Watson Cooper.
Wanda was united in marriage to Leslie Curtis Cooper on September 10, 1938 in Hickory County, Missouri. Leslie preceded her in death on December 30, 1967. Three sons blessed this union Curtis, Ronald, and Larry. Wanda married Ralph Emerson Tinsley in November of 1972; he also preceded her in death in August of 1999.
Wanda was a good homemaker and mother. In the winter time she enjoyed crocheting and piecing quilts. The first day of spring she could always be seen out in her garden, this was something she really loved. Her home was open to anyone who cared to enter and you were shown the greatest welcome. To her grandchildren she was know as “Grammie” and Grandma Wanda, she truly loved them and enjoyed them being in her home at any time.
Wanda spent most of her life in the Bolivar area. She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and lived a faithful life til the last. She was always willing to help in anything for the good of someone else. Wanda’s 1st outside job was at the Avon distributing plant in Kansas City, Missouri. She later worked for several years at Henton Vaughn Dry Goods in weaubleau.
She is survived by three sons, Curtis Eugene Cooper, Ronald Lee Cooper and wife Glenda, Larry Dean Cooper and wife Janie; a stepson Darrell Tinsley and step daughter Marilyn Tinsley Griffin and husband Ray; 8 grandchildren Terry Beyen and husband Michael, Lesa Lucky, Doug Cooper and wife Janice, Andy Cooper and wife Debbie; Leslie Holzknecht and husband Mike, Brent Cooper and wife Teresa; Laurie Prozorowski and husband Victor, Emily Jones and husband Ryan; 2 step grandchildren Julie Bryant and husband Robbie, Aimee Tinsley; 20 great grand children with one on the way and 11 great great grand children; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Brother Donnie Lane and Brother Ron Erwin officiating. Musical selections will be “How Great Thou Art” and “When My Time Comes To Go” by Robbie and Julie Bryant. Burial will follow in the Flemington Cemetery in Flemington, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30pm, Monday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Doug Cooper, Brent Cooper, Mike Holzknecht, David Beyin, Bob Tipton and David Holzknecht. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deryl Tinsley and Ray Griffin.
